We’ve moved! The Heritage Livestock Club of Eastern Ontario website is now located at www.heritagelivestockclub.com
Welcome to Rare Breeds Canada-Eastern Ontario Chapter Website
Rare Breeds Canada works to promote and conserve heritage and rare breeds of Canadian farm animals. Our goal is to increase the numbers of these animals by helping farmers to find breeding stock and educating the public. We also encourage the registration of pure stock and create networks to help farmers to find and exchange stock and find markets for their product.
Heritage Livestock Club of Eastern Ontario
……..formerly EASTERN ONTARIO CHAPTER RARE BREEDS CANADA
Mark your calendars…..plan on attending one of the Fall meetings of all members, families and friends at the Recreation Centre in Dunvegan (19053 Cty. Rd. 24) on Saturday October 18th from 2 to 4 PM or at the Township Council building at Black’s Corners on Sunday, Nov. 2nd from 2 to 4 pm over coffee and cookies.
Rare Breeds Canada recently decided, at their Annual General Meeting, they would no longer have Chapters but would rather have these groups known as Support Groups. As we are the oldest Chapter, having been organized since 1996, we were quite surprised by this move.
However, after some reflection and with more than 65 members demonstrating a strong interest in conserving and promoting Heritage Livestock, we see this as the ideal opportunity to reshape our group to better serve the interests of our members in a more casual format.
In order to include all members in all meetings and workshops, we will focus on round table discussions, experience sharing and general networking. In this way, we can all go away from each event having shared with and learned from our fellow members.
We will continue to achieve our goals and objectives by participating in local Fairs, Exhibitions and Harvest Festivals, as we have for the past several years, bringing the awareness of the importance of conserving Heritage Livestock to as many people as possible. We will also continue our educational presentations at Cumberland Museum, Upper Canada Village, in schools and to 4H groups as requested.
We will reach out to other groups in the area who share many of our interests related to traditional methods of farming and healthy foods.
As in the past, membership is open to anyone interested in Heritage Livestock, developing niche markets, growing naturally raised food and associated interests.
Using the expertise of our senior members, we are willing to assist with the sourcing of livestock, the registration process and coaching in the development of niche markets as requested.
Marketing opportunities will be offered through the use of a new and updated Club website.
WE HOPE TO SEE YOU IN DUNVEGAN ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18TH OR AT BLACK’S CORNERS ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND!
WE HOPE TO SHARE MORE INFORMATION WITH YOU AT THAT TIME AND LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING THE IDEAS YOU MIGHT LIKE TO BRING TO THE TABLE.
IF YOU REQUIRE DIRECTIONS OR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE CALL LINDLEY MCPHAIL AT

Eastern Ontario Chapter
Comprised of some 65 individuals dedicated to the goals and objectives of Rare Breeds Canada, our energetic group provides displays of Rare and Heritage Breeds at many fairs and agriculture related events in Eastern Ontario.
Our members, from all over Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec, are involved in raising many of the breeds on the RBC conservation list and are always willing to volunteer their animals for educational and promotional events to help grow support for Rare Breeds Canada.
We welcome all Rare Breeds Canada members in our area to share in our activities and to monitor our website for a full list of our shows, workshops and farm visits.
Reviews of all events are published on our site.
We look forward to hearing from many RBC members.
